Animal Friends Of The Valleys Still Fundraising For Clinic

WILDOMAR, CA — Third District Supervisor Chuck Washington recently toured the Animal Friends of the Valley’s campus in Wildomar, drawing attention to the new low-cost spay/neuter animal clinic being constructed alongside the shelter.

“This non-profit organization has been helping our Southwest Riverside County pets for over 28 years,” Washington shared on his Facebook page in a social media post. “They are dedicated to promoting humane care of animals through education and pro-active animal services.”

Animal Friends of the Valleys is building a more permanent solution for spaying and neutering appointments near the campus and is still fundraising that effort, they say.

In the long term, they will be able to provide services to many more animals across Southwest Riverside County with the addition of the clinic, according to the supervisor.

“The upcoming expansion will allow for more services to be rendered, and therefore, more lives to be saved,” Washington said.

Animal Friends of the Valleys is dedicated to providing a haven for all animals and offering quality and affordable care. Still, shelter officials say community financial support is needed to complete the facility on schedule.

“Every dollar counts. Your contribution will be forever etched in the community,” a recent AFV

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The new mobile unit from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh made its first outing on Thursday as part of a new program offered in partnership with Allegheny Health Network.

The Humane Health Coalition is a first-of-its-kind program that seeks to keep healthy pets and people together. The mobile clinic is staffed by caregivers to provide low- to no-cost veterinary care services, as well as health care and support services for pet owners.

“We’re trying to bring pets and people the care they need, where they need it,” said Dr. Ariella Samson, the assistant executive director of Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh. “So we know that right now, there’s a huge issue with access to care, people finding transportation and people being able to get on public transportation and Lyft, so we are going out into the community to offer both pet health care and human health care .”

The Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh said the clinics are primarily intended for underserved people who face financial hardships and other challenges such as housing instability and limited access to care, which

Ponemah pet clinic part of campaign for more Indigenous veterinarians

In the gymnasium of the Ponemah Elementary School veterinarian Raye Taylor is hard at work. She’s visiting with a feline patient through the screen door of a green pop-up tent. Because of cats’ nature the clinician found it easier to work with these patients if the cats were by themselves.

But there’s more than just cat-care going on here.

According to an American Veterinary Medical Association report “the veterinary profession is one of the least ethnically and racially diverse professions in the country.” Native Americans make up only about 1 percent of US veterinarians.

However, this week in Ponemah, the numbers are very different. This is the first pet clinic for the organization Natives in Vet Med.

Mercer County low-cost animal clinic desperate for new facility

MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Harrodsburg non-profit served its final patients and closed its doors on Wednesday.

Over the last several years, the Mercer County Fiscal Court has allowed Critters without Litters to occupy a vacant home on Moberly Road in Harrodsburg.

With the Mercer County Animal Shelter building a new facility on the same lot, the house has come down. Critters without Litters’ facility will be demolished after Christmas.

“Of course we’re happy we’re getting a new shelter, we needed one, but also, it was tearing our hearts out because we love this building,” said Terresa Hoskins, president of Critters without Litters.

Hoskins estimates that the clinic has kept 17,000 animals over the years, offering procedures at a fraction of the cost one would pay at a veterinarian’s office.

“We fix ferals, we fix barn cats, animals that other vets don’t want to handle. We do it all for our community,” said Hoskins.

At times, entire litters of strays are dropped off at the clinic. While the vet and vet tech are paid for their services, volunteers facilitate the scheduling and day-to-day operations.

From nurses to retirees to stay-at-home moms, the volunteers have a passion for animals,

Parksville vet clinic opens up dedicated to saving rescue animals

A vet clinic has opened up on Vancouver Island dedicated to helping rescue animals and the non-profits that save them.

Checking in on a stray cat that was found in bad shape in Parksville, Dr. Meggie Beal talked quietly to the friendly white feline and said she could see the bright future that lies ahead for it now, after providing it some needed TLC and surgery at her vet clinic Fantastic Beasts.

“I love the idea of looking after animals that don’t have anyone to look after them,” Beal told CHEK News.

And the staff that work at the clinic echo Beal’s passion for the work.

“This is like what we breathe every day. To literally save and rescue every single day. It’s an indescribable, rewarding feeling,” said Rochelle Neufeld, an animal care worker at Fantastic Beasts.

The clinic opened to address a growing need for nonprofits looking for vets to help rescue animals.

“We’re hearing from different animal rescue groups all the time and the need is high,” said Justine Morrison the rescue division manager at Fantastic Beasts.

Beal says she saw it firsthand working at a previous vet clinic. According to Beal, long waiting lists and vet shortages

3 detained, 2 arrested and charged with operating unlicensed veterinary clinic in Southwest Miami-Dade

SOUTH MIAMI HEIGHTS — Three men were detained, two of whom were taken into custody after a search warrant was served at an illegal veterinarian clinic in Southwest Miami-Dade on Saturday.

Miami-Dade Police said officers served a search warrant at a home in the area of 11901 SW 185th Terrace, where they said an anonymous tipster told them about the clinic.

According to MDPD Det. Andre Martin, a former client called detectives sometime last year to report an “unlicensed veterinary clinic,” where the tipster said they brought their pet for an operation on its tail. However, the wounded tail got infected and the pet owner had to take it to an official veterinary clinic. Unfortunately, the pet had its tail amputated as a result of the injury it received.

Arrest affidavits on the men in custody stated that after a records check with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Resources was requested, the agency certified that there was “no evidence” that either of them ever had current or active veterinary licenses.

Martin said that when the warrant was served, investigators found about six to eight patients waiting outside the home to have their animals cared for. During this time,

Two vets booked after dog dies of strangulation at pet clinic in Pune | Pune News

PUNE police have booked two veterinary doctors and their two staff members after a 12-year-old dog was brought to their clinic in Pashan for vaccination died of suspected strangulation while it was being leashed.

The incident took place on November 17. A 35-year-old woman had taken her 12-year-old labrador named Honey to the clinic for annual vaccination and nail trimming.

The woman stated in her complaint that the two veterinary doctors — one senior and the other junior — were present at the clinic. The two asked their two assistants to take the dog and leash it to a tree on the premises. The complainant said while the dog already had its own leash and collar, the clinic staff used a chain and a nylon collar to leash it. When the doctors and staff were leashing the dog, it got strangled due to a sudden pull and collapsed immediately.

The complainant’s mother, who was accompanying her, raised an alarm and asked them to loosen the leash and examine the dog. The doctors and staff took the dog inside and came out later to inform the complainant that the dog was no more.
